Within days after the launch of the new Tapang at Malasakit Alliance of the Philippines last Monday, HFMP is back on its track proving to be the most active grassroots movement supporting President Rodrigo Duterte's call for change via a shift to a federal form of government.
At the Negros Occidental Provincial Assembly today at Victorias City, Hugpong Federal Chairman Celso Tizon reiterated the movement's aim to win more adherents to federalism.
He said more and more Filipinos are realizing that the rotten unitary system will not effect fundamental change in governance to catalyze development in the countryside.
He called anew for the the decentralization of governmental powers and resources to the regions for a well-rounded national economic development.
Hugpong Federal National Convenor Peter Lavina traced the history of the country subjugated by foreign invaders and elitist oligarchs and the federalist movement that has been clamoring for fundamental change in the government structure.
He said now is the brightest time in our country's history under President Duterte to accomplish this end.
Attended by over 2,000 volunteers mainly from the province's First District, the assembly was also graced with the presence of DILG Assistant Secretary Jonathan Malaya, Provincial Coordinator Mary Jean Diamante, Region XVIII Coordinator Chato Moya, Region VII Coordinator Tommy Montinola and National Secretary-General Vergilio dela Cruz.
Another assembly is slated tomorrow Oct 29 at Isabela, Negros Occidental.
